Thrive
Thrive gives us an insight into why children behave like they do. The Thrive Approach can provide you with pointers to help create positive experiences that support their wellbeing and build their emotional resilience.
We use the Thrive approach to work in a targeted way with the children who may be struggling socially, emotionally or with difficult life events. Our experienced Thrive team support the children to re-engage with learning and life.
The provision we have at Central Primary offers a safe, secure, calm and supportive environment for the children who need time to regulate their emotions to allow them to return to the classroom. We are able to engage the children through targeted interventions which involves arts and play based activities. These include sand play, arts and crafts, beach school, story telling, music, drama, dance and painting. All of these have benefits and strengths and the use of creativity integrated into their day will support the children’s social and emotional development.
At Central Primary, we adopt a whole school Thrive approach. ensuring that the children receive consistent, positive messages on coping and dealing with their strong emotions from every member of staff.
Many of you will be familiar with Thrive and appreciate the support that your child receives both in school and at home.
Family Support Hub
Our family support Hub is based at Central Primary School Upper Site and is a community building supported by Children's North East. The hub was introduced to provide support and opportunities for the parents/carers and families of both Bothal and Central Primary Schools. We have a dedicated team of Family Support Workers and run a number of courses and sessions that are specifically tailored to meet the needs of individual families including for our very youngest pupils.
If you would like any further information on how we can support you please either speak to your child's class teacher or contact your school site office.
Communication Hub
Central Primary School Communication Hub is a Specialist Support Base (SSB) commissioned through Northumberland County Council.
Pupils who attend the Hub have primary special educational needs within Speech, Language and Communication.
The Hub has a maximum capacity of 10 pupils and is staffed with a higher ratio of adults, including one qualified teacher and specially trained learning support assistants.
The Hub classroom is located within the main school at Central Primary Lower Site where they have a specially designed classroom and access to outdoor spaces and sensory provision.
The pupils who attend the Hub follow individualised curriculum planning which is bespoke to their needs. Some pupils attending the Hub may integrate partially within the mainstream setting for varied periods dependent on developmental needs and readiness.
All admissions to the Hub come through the local authority SEND panel and cannot be allocated by school. All pupils who attend the Hub have an EHCP and placements are only considered for those with an EHCP in place. Central Primary School is unable to offer places in the Hub to any child without the agreement of the Local Authority.
Pupils already attending Central Primary School are not given preferential treatment for Hub places and must go through the same panel process.
